Mission: to expand availability of specialty care to low income, uninsured population throughout Northern Virginia by creating a regional specialty care network

What is NOVA Specialty Access?

• A project of the Northern Virginia Health Services Coalition (NOVAHSC)aimed to increase the quality of health care by successfully placing patients with specialty appointment
• NOVAHSC is a group of clinics working together to provide health care services for low income, uninsured people of Northern Virginia

How Does It Work?

• Specialty care providers volunteer their time and services to see qualified patients within the coverage area
• Providers see patients at the level they choose; it is their decision how many and how often they receive referrals
• NOVA Specialty Access serves as the link between area safety net clinics and specialty care physicians to ensure low income, uninsured patients get the care they need
• Patients are screened and referred to specialists by participating area safety net clinics
• NOVAHSC clinics provide support for pharmaceuticals and ancillary services

Who Does It Serve?

• Uninsured individuals at or below 200% of the federal poverty level seen by NOVAHSC clinics in:
  • City of Alexandria
  • Fairfax County
  • City of Fairfax
  • Arlington County
  • Prince William County
  • Loudoun County
  • Manassas City
  • Manassas Park
  • City of Falls Church
